I prefer to listen to speakers with expression. It helps to understand the meaning (although I realize this wasn't a dictée)
Test question:
How would you say «This computer works the best»? Cet ordinateur marche ________.
The answer is given as mieux.
But the lesson says:
Use meilleure when qualifying something as good/better/the best at what it does, i.e. efficient/practical, or good/better/the best in taste (food):
Quel est le meilleur aspirateur?Which is the best vacuum cleaner?
Why is it right for a vacuum, but wrong for a computer?
Hi Céline, in your excellent response below, just checking that after 'que' je is needed (or implied). Otherwise , wouldn't qui be used?

Similar to the question previously from Frank on 'choose a/my career' (and as G noted in his response), the English to be translated is "I found teachers fascinating" but only 'mes professeurs' is accepted. Either the English should be changed to 'my teachers' or "les professeurs" added to the accepted translation.
I don't understand why these are both correct, but one's in the passe compose and the other is in the imparfait.
En 2004, j'avais de l'argent.
In 2004, I had money.
En 1815, Napoléon a perdu la bataille de Waterloo.
In 1815, Napoleon lost the battle of Waterloo.
Is it because Napoleon only lost the battle one time, but we can assume I had money for the whole of 2004.
Does this mean numerous people and ancient cultures? I ask because I would have expected the phrase to be numerous ancient people and cultures but for that to be the case wouldn't anciennes have to be masculine to reflect the mixed gender of the group of nouns?
