It is with misty eyes that I remember those long summer days - I couldn't have been more than 10 - when my dad and I would get up at the crack of dawn to go fishing in the private pond nearby which we had access to thanks to his friend Pierre. After we had set up our foldable stools by the water, he would start listing all the fish that we could catch in freshwater: trout, bass, carp, pike... But in the end, it didn't matter whether they were biting or not. We simply enjoyed sitting next to each other, our fishing rods between our legs, while keeping an eye on the bright red floats that bobbed in the sparkling ripples of the water.
